What After SEE?

The Secondary Education Examination (SEE), formerly the School Leaving Certificate (SLC), is widely regarded as Nepal's most popular examination. It is often referred to as the "iron gate" because it serves as the gateway to higher education in the country.

Students' performance in each course is recorded in their permanent academic record. The evaluation of their success is based on their ability to meet the specific objectives of the course. Grades below C+ are unacceptable for students who aim to enrol in reputable plus-two colleges. Hence, if a student receives a low grade, they can take a re-examination to improve their grade.

Upon completing the SEE, seeking guidance regarding further studies, including course selection and college admission, is crucial. The choice of course after the SEE will play a significant role in shaping one's future career. For instance, if someone aspires to become a doctor, they should enrol in Ten Plus Two Science or an equivalent program with Biology as one of the major subjects. On the other hand, if someone wants to pursue a career in management or become a Chartered Accountant (CA), they can choose either Ten Plus Two in Management or Ten Plus Two Science or their equivalents.

Considerations for Choosing the Right Path:

While exploring the available options, several factors should be considered to make an informed decision:

Interest and Passion:

Choosing a path aligned with your interests and passions is crucial for long-term success and satisfaction. Reflect on your strengths, hobbies, and subjects that genuinely excite you.

Career Aspirations:

Consider your career goals and the academic qualifications required to achieve them. Research different professions, talk to professionals, and seek guidance to understand the educational requirements for your desired career path.

Skills and Aptitude:

Identify your strengths and assess the skills and aptitude you possess. Certain paths may require specific skill sets or aptitudes, so choosing a field where you can leverage your abilities effectively is essential.

Research and Exploration:

Conduct thorough research about the streams and programs you are interested in. Attend career counselling sessions, visit colleges and universities, and speak with students and teachers to gain insights into the curriculum, teaching methodologies, and prospects.
